What We Did

• Completed Kaniko‘o Senior Housing in Līhu‘e as part of his Holo Holo 2020 Vision as part of the County of Kaua‘i's efforts to increase affordable housing for kupuna, utilizing a public-private partnership.

• Supported development of Kōloa Workforce Housing (Koa‘e) helping expand opportunities for local families. 

​​

• Worked with partners to advance Lima Ola Workforce Housing on the west side, one of the island’s largest workforce housing communities.

​​

• Strengthened housing and community assistance programs that support services and stability for seniors and families.

 

​Our Vision Forward

Bernard understands that housing is one of the most serious challenges facing Kaua‘i. His experience has shown that solving it requires persistence, strong partnerships, and the ability to move complex projects forward.

​

A major focus will be addressing the gap housing problem, when local families earn too much to qualify for affordable housing but cannot afford market prices. Teachers, police officers, healthcare workers, and young families should be able to live and raise their children on Kaua‘i.

​

Bernard believes the path forward is practical: continue working with community partners, developers, and government agencies to expand workforce housing, remove barriers that slow responsible housing development, and ensure that local residents have the opportunity to remain on the island they call home.
